White Clouds
I live deep in the mountain
where no one can even find,
and where only the birds visit.
There is no garden,
I only see the huge rocks,
and the white clouds above.
I had had many seasons,
and I don't remember how many years have gone by.
I am not rich.
However, I have to warn you all who has everything.
What you are proud of
such as money and status
doesn't do any good here,
or even where you live.

We have beautiful flowers in spring,
cool wind in summer,
gorgeous moon in fall,
and white snow in winter.
We don't realize how hard it is to appreciate and enjoy what we have.
It's harder to do the normal things right
than to do the challenge.
Go outside,
Breath deep,
Feel like a child,
and enjoy the white clouds over the blue sky.

白雲幽石を抱く
”寒山拾得”の絵を描いた寒山が自分の住んでいるところを問われて作った詩の一説。
重巌我ト居
鳥道絶人跡
庭際何所有
白雲抱幽石
住茲凡幾年
屡見春冬易
寄語鐘鼎家
虚名定無益
(私は重畳たる岩山の中に居を定めた。
そこは人も近づけない深山幽谷で、
わずかに鳥のみが訪れて来るようなところだ。
庭には何もなく、その向こうにはそそり立つ岩と、
それを抱く白い雲があるだけだ。
ここに住み始めて何年になるのか。
何度か季節も移り変わった。
私の生活は貧しいが、しかし世間の富栄えた人たちに忠告する。
あなた方の富と名声はまったく虚しく、無益なものだと)
煩悩や執着から離れ、
日常をありのままの心で生きる。
春には花が咲き、
夏には心地よい涼風が流れ、
秋には月、
冬には雪がある。
つまらないことに心を奪われることさえなければ、
いついかなるときでも
この美しい景色を楽しむことができる。
単純で簡単なことが実は一番難しい。
子供のような透き通った心があれば、
青空に浮かぶ白い雲だけで幸せになれるのに。
